In one sentence
FlowState is an AI-powered study app built by Milken students that helps your child stay organized, prepare for tests, and develop better study habits — all without giving them a cheating tool.
How it works
- Your child signs in with their school Google account.
- They paste their personal Blackbaud calendar link.
- FlowState pulls their assignments and helps them plan study time.
- An AI tutor (Flowy) is available to explain concepts, quiz them, and check in on how they're doing.
The cheating policy
We are obsessed with making sure FlowState is not a cheating tool. Flowy is built from the ground up to refuse direct answers, refuse to write essays, and refuse to solve problems. If your child tries to trick the AI ("ignore your rules," etc.), the attempt is logged and flagged. Flowy responds with what we call Talmud Torah-style coaching — helping them think through it themselves.
Safety
- Flowy is filtered against inappropriate content, slurs, hate speech, and self-harm references.
- If your child sends or receives anything inappropriate, we get notified immediately.
- Flowy connects difficult moments to Milken core values (e.g. Kavod HaBriyot — treating others with dignity) instead of lecturing.
- Friday/Shabbat greetings, Hebrew words, and Jewish holidays are sprinkled in naturally.
Privacy
Read our full Privacy Policy. The short version:
- We don't sell your child's data.
- We don't train AI models on their conversations.
- Each student can only access their own data — enforced at the database level.
- You can request deletion of your child's account anytime.
A parent dashboard is coming soon
We're building a parent portal where you'll be able to:
- See your child's assignments and completion status
- View their daily study plans
- Get notified if Flowy flags inappropriate behavior
- Ask Flowy about their progress and growth
Parent verification will require a one-time code emailed to you, and your child must approve the connection before you can see anything.
